Seasonal challenges hit the Turkish rebar market in the downturn Seasonal challenges hit the Turkish rebar market in the downturn

Recently, due to seasonal factors, the pace of demand for rebar in Turkey has slowed down, and the market has fallen into a downturn. At present, the mainstream price of Turkey rebar is 610-620 US dollars/ton FOB, some resources are quoted at 640 US dollars /FOB, and the trading price can be 600-610 US dollars/ton FOB, and no deals have been heard. In order to stimulate consumption, some steel mills are willing to reach a deal at a lower price, however, due to the high cost of raw materials, the current market acceptable minimum price is still maintained at $600 / ton FOB. In addition, some traders said that the European market can currently accept higher prices compared to the Israeli market.

As of press day, the price of Turkey’s import of high-quality remelted scrap 1/2(80:20) is still at a high level, the Baltic resources can be traded at $425 / ton CFR, and the EU resources can be traded at $420 / ton CFR. Some traders believe that the scrap price may be slightly lower in the later period, thereby exerting downward pressure on the price of rebar, but most believe that the market is already in a relatively balanced state, and the price change will not be too large in the short term.
